At the London International Exhibition of Chinese Art in 1935, a Sui Dynasty marble figure of the Buddha Amitabha sent by C.T. Loo was located in the centre of the Burlington Hall, with all the other exhibits surrounding it, which signifies the monumental significance of this figure in Chinese arts and culture. Even though the exhibition was held in Britain, which is far far away from China, it did promote the generation of the concept of ancient Chinese stone sculpture in modern art system in China.
