卓越领导的素养及其培养——香港科技大学创校校长吴家玮访谈录

Quality and Cultivation of Excellent Leadership:Interview with President Wu Jiawei of HKUST

香港科技大学从无到有,短短二十多年,成为世界知名大学,与其创校校长吴家玮卓越的学术与教育领导能力有关。作者近期就领导力及其培养问题对吴家玮校长进行了专访。吴校长认为,卓越领导者应具备民族意识、认真态度、团队精神,应不断追求新知识、不断反思,坚定自己的理想,执着前行。个体受教育的经历在领导力形成过程中起着至关重要的作用;西方教育理念中的"帅"与东方的"乖"形成鲜明对比,我们应认识到东方教育存在的不足;培育学生具有厚重的传统文化底蕴和广阔的国际视野,需要在让学生熟谙传统文化的同时,并重西方文化的精华,大学应为学生提供良好的学习机会和生活环境,使其与国际社会接轨。

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology（HKUST）has experienced just more than twenty years,but becomes one of the world-known universities.The great achievement is concerned with excellent leadership on academy and education of its founding president Prof.Wu Jiawei.Recently we interviewed with Professor Wu on excellent leadership and its cultivation.In Wu＇s opinion,excellent leaders should possess national consciousness,serious attitude and team spirits,and should always pursue new knowledge,do reflection,and never give up dreams.Individual educational experience is critical to achieve leadership quality.The differences of educational belief between western handsome＇and eastern obedience＇make us know more about the eastern education＇s disadvantages.The key to helping students to value traditional culture and form international vision lies in students being acquainted with the essence of western culture as well as traditional culture.Besides,universities should provide students with more learning opportunities and good living environment to contact with outside world.
