Modern Imagination of Guangzhou Metropolitan Culture——Taking Liang Fenglian's Novels as an Example

移居地与故乡的文化反差使得入粤外籍作家对广州这座城市血脉根性的认知很难深入下去,而本土作家梁凤莲与广州血脉相连的关系,以及梁凤莲对广州无以言表的深情,使她在岭南经验的本土言说中独占鳌头。品味梁凤莲的广州故事,处处可见对老广州风物习俗和城市景观的识名性描写,一串串具有地域特征的文化符码构建起老广州都市文化的现代性想象。

The cultural contrast between the resettlement destination and hometown makes it difficult for immigrating writers to Guangdong to go deep cognitively into the blood root of Guangzhou City. Liang Fenglian, a local writer of Guangzhou, with her blood relationship with and her deep affection of the city, holds the palm of Lingnan-experienced local speech. Tasting her Guangzhou story, customs of old Guangzhou and identification descriptions of urban landscape can be seen anywhere, a string of cultural symbols with geographical features constructing the modern imagination of the metropolitan culture of old Guangzhou.
