Basing on the reconstruction of the exterior engine cooling water system for the 16V240ZC diesel engine that outputs power for a dredger, the paper discusses the working flow of several common cooling water systems applied in marine engines, describes the basic process of the cooling system working for the plate heat exchangers and the calculation process of temperature points as well as the selection mode of key equipments.
