Correspondence education, with its distinct features of flexible time, low cost and no geo- graphical limitations, is a major form of library education during the period of Republic of China. Based on studies on the Shanghai Library Correspondence School and other library correspondence schools, this pa- per has sorted out the teaching procedures and history of library correspondence education during the period of Republic of China, and concluded the decline of library industry caused by war is the major reason for the short life of library correspondence education during the period of Republic of China.
