The superiority of medium pressure single stage system over medium-low pressure two stage system of city gas network is expounded. The variations of pressure at consumers for medium pressure single stage system and medium-low pressure two stage system under any regime when the pressure at regulator＇s outlet is a fixed value are compared by analyzing the relations among pressure at regulator＇s outlet, upstream pressure of gas appliance and pressure drop in piping. The fluctuation range of pressure at consumers of medium pressure single stage system is smaller.
