The Summary of the Studies about the Etiology and Pathogenesis of Hashimoto Thyroiditis in Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine

桥本甲状腺炎(HT)是一种常见的甲状腺自身免疫性疾病。中医认为与外感、水土、饮食等外因以及情志、体质等内因密切相关,以气滞、痰凝、血瘀壅结颈前为基本病机,且结合肝、脾、肾三脏及早、中、后三期证候,病机呈现出阶段特点。西医则认为T细胞活化与应答、T细胞分型及相关细胞因子偏移失衡、细胞凋亡等是HT的主要发病机制,而相关抗原抗体也是引发该病的重要途径,其病因涉及遗传、环境、微量元素、感染、药物等多个方面。

Hashimoto thyroiditis（HT） is a common autoimmune thyroid disease. It is considered that HT is closely related to both exopathic factors and endopathic factors according to Chinese medicine system, such as extreme climate, natural environment, diet, emotions and habits. The basic pathogenesis is stagnation of Qi, coagulated phlegm and blood stasis in the neck. In consideration of the three organs of liver, spleen, kidney, and three-stage syndrome,the disease presents staged characteristics. The main pathogencsis of HT in western medicine includes T cell activation and immune response, the imbalance of T cell typing and related cyto- kines, apoptosis, etc. The associated antigens and antibodies are also important pathways to cause the dis- ease. The causes of this disease include hereditary factors, environment, microelement, infection, medication and so on.
