The Puttermesser Papers is one of long classic novels by the famous American Jewish writer Cynthia Ozick. During the process of the heroine Puttermesser＇s search for her Jewish identity and her right as a woman, her triple structure of personality takes on a disordered and imbalanced state, leading to the total failure of all her efforts. This reflects the great difficulty for the Jewish to construct their identity and for Jewish women to get rid of racial and gender discrimination in the atmosphere of American main cultural assimilation.
