长泽龟之助西方数学著作翻译工作述评

Review of and Comments on Kamenosuke Nagasawa's Mathematical Translation

全面整理了日本数学教育家长泽龟之助的主要业绩,在此基础上对他的翻译工作进行评述,阐明了长泽在明治时期西方数学著作的引介、数学术语的确定与统一、数学书横排等方面的重要贡献.指出长泽数学教科书编撰及数学教育方面的成果基础就是其前期的翻译工作,他的译著不仅对日本的数学教育影响巨大,而且还被介绍到中国,促进了中国数学教育的发展.

After sorting out thoroughly the major academic performance made by Kamenosuke Nagasawa,an important mathematics educator in Japanese history, this paper presents some reviews and comments on his translation of western mathematic books into Japanese,pointing out that this mathematician did make a great contribution in Meiji Period to the introduction of western mathematic books, the confirmation and unification of mathematical terms, and the arrangement of horizontal writing mode on math books. It is clear that his achievements in compiling math textbooks and mathematics education were mainly based on his former work of translation. Kamenosuke＇s translated books not only had a substantial influence on Japan＇s mathematics education,but also were introduced into China and promoted the development of mathematics education in the country.
