于成龙是清代顺治、康熙年间的一位朝廷重臣,历任地方县令、知州、按察使、布政使、巡抚、总督、中央兵部尚书、大学士等职,他为官二十余载,从政经历丰富,不仅是一位廉吏而且是一位刚健有为的干臣,为官任上,他倾力安民、惠民,消弭内忧外患,勤抚恤、严征收、崇节俭,治下政绩颇佳。集中体现了其奖励农耕,重农务实、劝富济贫、积极救灾、根治灾荒之源和便民利民的民本经济思想,研究于成龙的民本经济思想不仅可以对清代的社会经济有一定的了解,而且可以对现实的经济问题有所借鉴和启发。

He had more than twenty years of experience working in the political circles, furthermore, he was a honesty government official and took some measures benefiting people, such as, frequently pensioning the old, regulating the system of requisition, advocating thrift and so on. Based on the above description, the e- conomic idea of taking the people as the foundation of the state, for example, rewarding farming, paying attention to agriculture, per- suading the rich poor, positive relief and the like, was reflected.
