A Summary of Lu Xun's Studies on Mythology

鲁迅吸收了当时西方神话研究的最新观念,将中国神话纳入中国文学系统,探讨与阐释其本质、起源、发展、演变、分期、销歇的原因,以及它与后世文学的关系等基本问题。特别是他将神话作为中国小说的起源,这在中国是具有开创性意义的成果。

By presenting Lu Xun＇s interest in Chinese mythology in his teens, his scientific explanation and analysis of the myths in his youth and specific study of these myths in his middle age, this paper systematically teases out the results of Lu Xun＇s mythology research, shows the process and attempts to discuss his contribution to this field in terms of textual research. Absorbing the latest concepts of mythology research in the Western world and incorporating mythology into Chinese literature, Lu Xun explores the nature, origin, development, evolution, classification and extinction of myths and their impacts on the later literature. And in particular, his theory of regarding mythology as the origin of Chinese novels made breakthroughs in China.
