《国语》是先秦一部专记西周穆王征犬戎(约前967)至三家分晋(前403)五百余年间八国政要和上层社会知名人士言论专史,可与专记事实的《左传》参证。所记孔子言论有《论语》和他籍未载者8则,本可贵,但其中掺杂几则"子不语"的"怪""神",令人生疑,俱辑录备考。

History of Zhou Dynasty States is a pre-Qin history record of the discourses of important statesmen and other noted people from Muwang＇s conquest（about 967 BC） of Quanrong to the division of three kingdoms（403 BC）. It contains eight discourse of Confucius, unknown in The Analects of Confucius and other books. They contain material about monsters or deities, which render them dubious. Nevertheless, they are recorded for the purpose of further investigation.
