The method with gas chromatography / mass spectrometry（ GC / MS） was used to determine the content of dipentene in tetrafluoroethylene sample. The mass spectrometer was operated in selected ion monitoring（ SIM） mode. By using this mode,high sensitivity and selectivity were achieved. The content of dipentene in tetrafluoroethylene was calculated by external standard method. The approach was simple to operate,so it can detect the content of dipentene in tetrafluoroethylene sample effectively.
