Value Transcendence: Cultural Comparison on Moral Education between America and China

相比美国社会发达的文化生产力而言,我国传统德性文化的优势不在技术操作抑或是实践层面,而在于以儒家文化为主,融合佛家、道家学说,具有价值超越意义的文化理念,它蕴含着面对异质文化"和而不同"的宽容态度,"立己立人,达己达人"的人己理念,"见利思义"的价值判断以及"天人合一"的超越精神,足以令我国道德教育有着与众不同的"中国精气神",与美国文化殖民的强势态度,个人至上的利己观念,功利为重的价值观和主客二分的自然观相比独具优势,美国道德教育可以从中汲取有益的价值资源。

Compared to the developed culture of American society, the advantage of China＇s traditional moral culture is neither in tech- nology nor practice operation, which is based on Confucian culture as well as the fusion of Buddhism and Taoism, having the cultural concept of value transcendence. It contains harmoniously tolerant attitude when it faces the heterogeneous culture, the concept of oneself that makes others succeed if you want to succeed and makes others be sensible if you want to be sensible, and the value judgment of coming up with morality first when you see goods and the spirit of transcendence that is in harmony with nature. These are enough to make our moral education be out of the ordinary. Compared to the strong attitude of America cultural colonization, the concept of per- sonal supreme, values of stressing interest and view of nature that make subject and object separate, China＇s moral education has its u- nique advantage. America society can learn some useful value resources from it.
