An overview of microwave heat effects and the principles of microwave heating application in preparing activated carbon, and factors effecting activated carbon pore structure is presented. A review of the technological advances in microwave preparation of activated carbon from agricultural and forestry waste material reveals a number of questions that have yet to be answered.
