亚德里亚堡战役在晚期罗马帝国具有十分重要的影响。经此一战,罗马帝国元气大伤,不仅最高统治者战死沙场,主力部队也损失惨重。后世学者认为这场战役的失败拉开了罗马帝国崩溃的序幕,从此罗马帝国不可避免地走向灭亡。军事上的失利表明罗马帝国已经失去抵挡蛮族不断涌入的能力,而导致这种情况发生的原因并非军事实力上的巨大差距,而是当局者一系列决策失误和战术问题;另一方面,此次哥特人入侵并未彻底毁灭罗马帝国,说明仅仅靠军事力量还是无法彻底消灭一个业已衰败的帝国。

the battle of Adrianople is very important for the later Roman Empire.Thereafter the Roman lost so much that even the supreme command is dead.Later scholars consider it is the overture of the collapse,and the Roman Empire is going to death inevitably.Military defeat shows the Romans has lost the power to resist the pouring of barbarians,the result doesn＇t originated from the military disparity,but a series decision-making errors of the authorities.On the other hand,the Empire is still standing firm during the invasion of Goths,which means that a dying empire can＇t be destroyed by force only.
