Discussion on Important Ancient Stone Inscriptions in Yunnan

从中国古代历史文献中,我们常能看到史家用＂百蛮＂、＂西南夷＂这一类的词语来概括云南的民族,用简得不能再简的语言来记述云南的历史,似乎云南真是未开化的蛮荒之地。事实往往出人意料之外,如果在当年汉武帝眼中的西南夷真是不足道的蛮荒之地,他怎会在长安旁边开凿昆明池备战,又怎会两次派以文才、智识见称的两司马出使、经略西南。

The historical records of Yunnan region are simple,but Yunnan has been very prosperous as early as two thousand years ago.Stone inscriptions of Chinese characters are found in small number and relatively late,but they are very important.lt provides important literature and documentation of Yunnan in early period about culture,history,social system and links to the Central Plains.Some of the early stone inscriptions occupy an significant position in Chinese calligraphy history.
