To call on people to care for the elderly, Liicheng Social Workers＇ Service Station, Yihe Social Workers＇ Service Center and several other organizations held a dumpling-making competition among elderly empty nesters （elderly people whose children have left home to work in other parts of China） in Zhengzhou （capital of Central China＇s Henan Province） on December 22, the day of winter solstice. Chinese customarily eat various healthy, delicious foods, including dumplings and wonton, on that day. The event was held in Yihe Home for the Elderly, in Huiji, a district in Zhengzhou.
