HIV can integrate into the genomes of infected cells and persist in a stable latent reservoir.Viral reservoir is the obstacle to the eradication of HIV and a cure for AIDS in patients receiving combination antiretroviral therapy,so pursuing effective strategies for functional cure for AIDS is the focus of AIDS research.New treatment outcome of HIV infection— the eradication of HIV occurred in the "Berlin patient",which brought hope and inspired the confidence to cure AIDS.Nowadays, cell therapy based on stem cells and T cells is regarded as one of the potential strategies to cure HIV infection. This article focuses on the recent findings on cell therapy in functional cure for AIDS.
