Leonard Talmy's Philosophy of Language

本文论述了Leonard Talmy的核心语言学理论背后的语言哲学思想。本文发现Talmy关于语言是认知系统的思想以及语言表层表达和语言深层语义结构之间关系的思想不仅贯穿于他的绝大部分理论,而且也为他的研究提供了方法论指导。本文对Talmy关于认知语言学的三个重要的哲学假设的观点做了详尽采访,认为Talmy对这三个假设既有坚持,又有保留。

This article argues that most of Leonard Talmy’s theories could be motivated by and organized along a few lines of philosophical ideas of language,including the idea that language is a cognitive system,the idea that surface linguistic forms reflect human universally shared deep structure of meaning,etc.Talmy was interviewed on the three tenets,that is,the philosophical foundations of Cognitive Linguistics.And it is found that he supports some aspect of them,and is not a full and complete advocate for these assumptions.
