An Analysis of the Status Quo of Diego Garcia Base

迪戈加西亚是美军在印度洋上的重要基地,既是支援潜艇作战基地和战略轰炸机基地,又是美海军在印度洋的主要后勤保障中心,可有效支援美军在印度洋及周边地区的行动。但受国际环境及自身条件影响,该基地的维持和使用受到一定限制:基地有可能会卷入国际政治纠纷中;岛屿的大小限制了基地的规模;基地距周边大陆的距离较远限制了其作战使用,需响应多责任区的设置影响了基地的建设发展;基地可能会面对来自次大陆的军事威胁和大自然的威胁。

Diego Garcia is an important base for U.S armed forces in the Indian Ocean. It serves as the base for submarines and Strategic Bombers and the logistics center which supports the U.S. operations in Indian Ocean and surrounding areas. The maintenance and use of this base is confined by several factors： the possible international political disputes,the small size of islands, its far distance from continents, its response to multi responsibility zones, military and natural thrats.
