An introduction is made on the application of concrete block soft mattress for bottom protection works on the right branch of Xinshengzhou which is located in Nanjing section of the Yangtze River,including selection of structure type,design of composite geotextile as well as construction techniques and technologies during sinking of head mattress,mattress body sinking and laying,orbital modulation and end mattress sinking and laying.The construction was completed successfully and the quality of composite geotextile has satisfied the design requirement.The practice and experiences can be used as a good example for other similar projects.
