In 2012, 198 burials at the Dadianshan Cemetery in Changning County, Yunnan Province were excavated. These burials included vertical earthen shaft pit tombs, earthen cave tombs and urn burials. The vertical earthen shaft tombs are the popular type in the burials of the Bronze Age in Yunnan, but the earthen cave tombs were the first discovered burial type of this period. The artifacts unearthed from these burials were mostly bronzes, the main types of which were curving swords, spearheads, bracelets, yue-battle axes, swords, buckles, etc. The dates of the vertical earthen shaft pit tombs were mainly from the mid Warring-States Period to the late Western Han Dynasty, and they might be the remains of the Di and Qiang tribes from the northwestern China. The dates of the earthen cave tombs were from the late Spring-and-Autumn to the late Warring-States Period, and they might be the remains of the ancient Ailao people.
