摘要
根据构式的生态观(Taylor,2004),新构式的产生及其在实际话语中的理解都要以语言中已有构式作为基础。本文以英语口语中最近几十年才出现的一种新构式——对比焦点重叠结构(如"JOB-job","DOCTOR-doctor","LIVING TOGETHER-living together")——为研究对象,探讨其历时发展和在线处理的认知理据。通过详细论证,本文指出对比焦点重叠结构根源于英语中的修饰构式,而不是在音系构造上与之更为相似的一般重叠构式。本文的讨论为如何分析语言中的新奇构式提供了一个可供参考的框架。
According to ecological view of constructions( Taylor,2004),the historical origin and online comprehension of novel constructions must be based on the already established constructions in the language. This paper focuses on a construction in colloquial English that only appeared in recent decades,i. e. the Contrastive Focus Reduplication( CR for short) construction( e. g. 'JOB-job ','DOCTOR-doctor','LIVING TOGETHER-living together'),exploring its motivation in terms of diachronic source and online comprehension. Through detailed arguments,it is pointed out that CR is an extension of the modification construction in English,rather than the superficially more similar general reduplication patterns. The discussion in this paper provides a framew ork for analyzing novel constructions in a language.
