American Fierce Debate on U.S. Policy towards China

当前美国国内进行的对华政策大辩论,对以往几十年间美国奉行的以接触为主的政策及效果进行反思与评估,辩论的参与者可大致分为强硬派、顺应派和维持现行政策派,各派代表人物都有自己不同的出发点和政策主张。这场大辩论反映出中美关系新态势的大背景下美国国内在对华政策上的多元思考,引起各界的高度关注。辩论虽必然会对美国对华政策和中美关系产生影响,但不致引发根本性变化。

The current American debate on China is actually a reassessment of and refection on U.S. engaging policy and effects in the past decades. The participants of the debate can be roughly divided into the three groups of the hardliners,conformists and those sticking to the current policy. The representatives of the three groups have different starting point and policy proposals. The debate reflects U.S. domestic diversifying thinking on the China policy under the new situation of Sino-U.S. relations and has drawn attention from all walks of life. Although the debate will inevitably produce impacts on U.S. China policy and the China-US relations,it is not likely to cause fundamental changes in American strategy towards China.
