Literal Translation VS Free Translation

在翻译领域中有着两种基本翻译方法,即直译与意译。自古代翻译理论诞生的那一天起,直译与意译之争便开始了。不管是在中国还是在西方,直译意译之争从古至今从未停止过,一直争论不休。本文通过分析翻译家们对直译与意译这两种翻译基本方法的看法、观点,借鉴相关的翻译理论与实践的成果,对直译与意译这两种翻译基本方法的关系进行了深入分析和讨论,以期能够提出参考性意见。

There exist, in birth of translation theory the field of translation, two basic in ancient times commenced the methods： literal translation and free translation. The argument about the relationship between them, and it lived on not only in China but also in western countries. Nonetheless, an agreement still can＇ t be reached. The relationship between literal translation and free translation will be discussed deeply by analyzing what translators have brought up and argued, in order that some reference can be provided, which will hopefully facilitate translators to work better.
