在"行政权支配社会"的前近代中国,区域发展主要得益于国家政策的偏向。咸同之际,随着官方在大通和悦洲设置厘卡、盐务招商局等重要机构,作为皖省边缘小镇的大通迅速发展成为皖江"巨镇",以其为中心的区域市场圈得以初步形成。1876年芜湖开埠。安庆、大通被辟寄航港,皖江地区被卷入资本主义世界市场体系之中。受市场化浪潮影响,大通航运加速近代化、商业精英主导的自为式发展的加速推进以及区域商贸互动的不断加深,推动了以其为中心的区域市场圈的勃兴。

In the pre-modern Chinese society dominated by the administrative power, the regional development was mainly due to national policy bias. The Datong town quickly became a major town in Wanjiang region and the regional market circle centered !by the ~D^tong town came into being. In 1876, Wuhu became a treaty port, and Anqing and Datong became calling ports, and the Wanjiang region was involved in the capi- talist world market system. Affected by the tide of marketization, the rapid modernization of Datong shipping, the continuous expansion of regional trade interaction and the business elite dominated self development promoted the boom of the Datong market circle.
