摘要
1902年,康有为弟子欧榘甲在美国旧金山市的《文兴日报》上发表了一组政论文,其核心思想乃是主张"广东自立"以救中国。这组政论文很快由日本横滨的新民丛报社印行了题名《新广东》的单行本,而其所具有的民族革命宣传品的性质,在当时激起了很大反响。尤其是康梁派内部的争论,不但彰显了梁启超、欧榘甲、徐勤等弟子的革命倾向,并且,从乃师康有为的力加遏制,亦可见保皇会策略的变动。这场政治论争尚延续到文学书写,在《新小说》杂志中继续展开。经由梁启超的政治小说《新中国未来记》的敷演以及受康有为压制后的叙述调整,欧榘甲的粤剧《黄萧养回头》以戏曲形式坚持己见、继续争辩,加上清政府驻古巴总领事廖恩焘创作的粤讴《趁早乘机》的大力呼应,《新广东》构想的以地方自治主导的维新政治蓝图,在文学空间也得到了充分的演绎。
In 1902, Kang Youwei's disciple Ou Jujia published a series of political essays in San Francisco based The Chinese World (Mon Hint Yat Bo), advocating Canton autonomy as a means to save China. This group of essays were soon reprinted as a single volume under the title New Canton by the Journal of New People (Sein Min Choong Bou) in Yokohama, Japan, casting a great impact on the concurrent situation as a propaganda of national revolution. The debate within the Kang--Liang school on the one hand demonstrated the revolutionary tendency of Kang Youwei's followers such as Liang Qichao, Ou Jujia, and Xu Qin. It on the other hand revealed the strategic change of Kang's Protecting the Emperor Society ("1~"), as reflected in Kang's relentless objection to his disciples' revolutionary idea. This political debate was further extended into literary writings, as continued in the magazine of New Fiction. Through the collective elaboration in Liang Qichao's political fiction The Future of New China, Ou Jujia's Cantonese opera The Rebirth of Huang Xiaoyang, and the Cantonese folksong Seizing the Opportunity in Time composed by Liao Entao, the consul-general in Cuba, the political blueprint of reform through regional autonomy conceived by the New Canton received a full discussion in the space of literature.
