Higher vocational college contestants＇ performance in professional English skill contests indicates that they are comparatively weak in critical thinking. Based on an analysis of the denotation and connotation of critical thinking as well as the reasons that cause its absence, the paper puts forth some strategies to train students＇ skills critical thinking.
