Identity is one of the main focuses of postcolonial literature. " Staying on" is the last novel of British novelist Paul Scott, which won the Booker Prize in 1977. The setting of the novel is in 1977,whose value lies in that the novel reflects the influence of relationship between British and India in postcolonial ages from the relationship between British and India in colonial ages. The novel reflects the relationship of contradiction through several characters cleverly. Based on the postcolonial theory, this paper aims to interpret the loss and finding of Luce' identity in the " Staying on".
