Wang Xiyang is a villager in Dasanjia Village, Nangongyingzi Town, Kazuo County, Chaoyang, Liaoning. Faced with two ferocious robbers, Wang did not choose to run away and ignore. Instead, he courageously confronted the robbers, fighting them. Wang’s attempt to stop the crime and his calm reaction infuriated the frantic criminals. Outraged and panic, one of the robbers shot Wang at the head to try to get away as soon as he could. The flying bullet was racing to Wang’s head, while he was reaching for a rake behind him to defend. He dodged instinctively. The flying bullet hit him right in his neck. Wang collapsed heavily on the ground and lost consciousness because of massive bleeding...Thirteen hours later, Wang was finally transported to an emergency room in Beijing 304 Hospital. Wang’s blood almost drained up within the 13 hours. After a discussion, the doctors concluded that there would be very little chance for him to survive, and he would probably live in vegetative state even if he survived. However, Wang miraculously recovered to the state of an almost healthy man when he left the hospital, except the 30% functions of his arms which needed more time for further recovery. Wang created a miracle in medical history and became a hero in people’s mind. After his return, all the villagers, old and young, came to visit him and show congratulation on Wang’s heroic return. Wang’s family treated the fellow villagers with nice food for 3 days, just like a wedding ceremony. Wang was later honored as a Righteous Man, a "Good Person in Liaoning," and a National Moral Model. All the villagers in Dasanjia are excited and proud of Wang’s honors which have, since then, been encouraging and generating confidence and strength for the village.
