Materialistic conception of history reveals the general laws of the development of human society. Following this conception, China established the socialist system. Disobeying it, China experienced twists and turns in its exploring of socialism. According to DENG Xiaoping,in building socialism, one of the most important lessons is that the law of social development must be observed. To explore socialism with Chinese characteristics should be based on the conditions of the primary stage of socialism, and reform is the self-perfection of the socialist system. The theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the concrete results we gain in following the historical materialism. Based on the social realities of the primary stage of socialism, XI Jinping stresses that we should consistently develop socialism with Chinese characteris- tics.
