作为信息化时代的重要科研手段之一的地理信息系统,已经为多学科所采纳。历史研究者称之为历史地理信息系统,其建设的路径与方法已在全球范围内受到关注。以国家社会科学基金重大招标项目"丝绸之路历史地理信息系统建设"为契机,可揭示建设两千年陆上丝绸之路历史地理信息系统的构想、价值与意义:帮助历史时期丝绸之路沿线空间信息的获取与研究手段的更新;丝绸之路信息资料库的链接与共享,提供该项研究中所需的多元史料的支撑;突破现有学科界限,是实现丝绸之路研究多学科发展的有效途径。
