The United Nations and Public Diplomacy

随着国际舞台上国家作为唯一行为体局面的被打破,作为国际关系独立行为体的主要国际组织,在其发挥作用的过程中也越来越重视以“公共外交”的方式,与各国非政府的团体及民众的交流,增进相互信任与理解,争取各方的支持和帮助.在这一方面,联合国做了大量卓有成效的工作.

Public diplomacy has to deal with all strata of society, and achieve understanding and consensus through various kinds of official and civil, bilateral and multilateral dialogues. As states are no longer the only category of entities of importance in the world, more and more international organizations have been paying more attention to public diplomacy, communicating with non-governmental organizations and peoples from different countries, deepening understanding and cooperation, and seeking support and help from various parties. The United Nations has done much productive and meaningful work in this regard.
