How Does "Resorting to Traditions" Destroy Academic Tradition:A Discussion on the Academic Ethics of Scholars like Liu Xiaofeng and Qiu Feng

"诉诸传统"是今日中国人文社科学术界出版物中常见的推理谬误,不少学者经常以这种误入歧途的无效论证来为其宏大叙事或政治诉求装点门面,进行学术的包装。一般的方法路径有很大的选择余地,而推理谬误问题是没有选择余地的,因为这是直截了当的错误。不从这种谬误中走出来,还在襁褓中的中国学术将不可能形成真正有积累效应的传统。为了中国学术的健康发展,我们必须杜绝像"诉诸传统"这样的谬误。

'Resorting to traditions' is a logical fallacy common to China's humanities and social science publications.Many scholars often use such an invalid argument to decorate their grand narratives or political demands.Academics have some flexibility when it comes to choosing ways of doing research,whereas logical fallacy is straightforwardly false.Chinese academic research,which is still in its youth,cannot form a tradition with a real cumulative effect if it is unable to abandon logical fallacy.The fallacy such as 'resorting to traditions' must be prevented to allow for the sound development of Chinese academic research.
