English compounds, applying compounding word formation, are widely applied, with a high proportion amid new words. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the sources of connotation, word formation, and related English-to-Chinese （E -C） translation strategies, and the accounts of translation. The paper particularly focuses on literal translation, free translation, and the combination of literal and free translation in translating English visual compounds to acquire the equivalent Chinese connotation, with the accounts included, to help Foreign Language Learners understand and recite these visual compounds, reduce the pressure of learning these compounds, and improve the efficiency of learning.
