多译本平行语料库的汉英文化辞典的价值--以《红楼梦汉英文化大辞典》为例

The Values of a Corpus-based Chinese-English Translation Dictionary——With reference to the Hong Lou Meng Chinese-English Culture Dictionary

以正在编纂的《红楼梦汉英文化大辞典》为例,探讨基于多译本平行语料库的汉英文化辞典的宏观价值,包括文化性、比较性和描述性,以及微观价值,包括对文化的理解、表达形式、翻译策略、翻译普遍性等四方面。建立在大量、真实、权威和可资验证的语料基础上的汉英文化辞典,能确保其客观性、准确性、权威性、完备性和实用性,该辞典对探讨文化翻译及"中华文化走出去"、"典籍外译工程"有所借鉴。

Taking the Hong Lou Meng Chinese-English Culture Dictionary as an example which is under compilation, this paper explores the various values of a Chinese-English culture dictionary may have, both macroscopically and microscopically. As far as the former is concerned, the values lie in its cultural orientation, comparability and descriptiveness; insofar as the latter is concerned, the values consist of its interpretation of culture, mode of expression, strategy of translation, and universals of translation. The paper thoritative authority, light on th concludes that gi data which can b ven the fact that such a dictionary builds upon a large-scale authentic and au e inter-subjectively justified, the dictionary guarantees objectivity, accuracy, comprehensiveness and practicality. It is thus hoped that such a dictionary shall throw some e discussions on cultural translation, ＂Chinese culture going-out＂, as well as the ＂project of outward-translation of Chinese classics＂.
