Disputes between the Literary Research Society and the Creation Society

五四时期翻译界的论争之中,影响最大的当属文学研究会和创造社之间的论争。论争主要围绕翻译的作用与地位、翻译的动机与目的、翻译批评三个方面展开。在论争中,译者、读者对翻译问题的不同认识得以凸显,如对待翻译批评的态度、编辑的责任等,从而加深了对翻译的认识与思考。创造社与文学研究会的宿怨使得二者的论争发展至护短与揭疮的"混战",远离最初的关于翻译问题的探讨。究其原因,这与郭沫若及其创造社成员的精英意识与中心趋向不无关系。

During the May Fourth Era, the disputes between the Literary Research Society and the Creation Society were about the role and status of translation, the motive and purpose of translation, and the translation criticism. In the disputes, different understandings from the translators and readers were highlighted such as the attitude toward translation criticism and the editor＇s responsibility, which deepened the understanding on translation. The feud of the two societies turned the disputes into a tangled warfare with each side shielding its own shortcomings while exposing the opponents＇. The discussion about translation unexpectedly played the role of a fuse, due to the Creation Society＇s elite consciousness and their centripetal intent.
