This article applies methods of literature and logical analysis and takes the tradition of football clubs, the important role of towns or districts in the symbolic construction of identity as a starting point, and then uses the case studies of Northern European football and the impact of England's football on Norwegian football as references to make deep illustration on the local identification process of sports globalization. This study suggests that: the national team's football matches tend to be of great concern to stimulate strong emotions. As a global media event, the status of the FIFA World Cup can not be challenged by any club-based matches. In comparison, under the influence of transnational networks, commercialized semiotics and passion, foot- ball fans generally prefer local club communities, because these communities are geographically closer, and fans hold more emotional support to these clubs.
