Ancient Greece, in human civilization, is the home of nudity, where nude bodies of young men are often the centre of public appreciation, as well as the object of inspiration for artists. From a large quantity of literary, historical and aesthetic materials as well as artistic works, we can draw a conclusion that according to the Greeks, the beauty of a male human body is shown in the following two ways: First, the movement of the body displays a sense of utmost freedom, i. e. a kind of dynamic beauty; Second, the muscle and its tension reflect the beauty of strength and robustness, which is exclusive for a male body. These two aesthetic attitudes are founded in the Greeks' understanding of human health and physical growth. Accordingly, the males' dynamic beauty, strength and robust beauty combined together represent the Greeks' general ideal of beauty for a male body.
