Eileen Chang's Eyes on the World——Metaphors in Destiny of Half a Lifetime

认知语言学认为隐喻本质上是认知的,涉及深层次的语言思考,因此它不仅是独特的语言形式,也是理想的文学分析材料。本文以语言学中隐喻这一概念分析张爱玲唯一的一部长篇小说《半生缘》,发现其隐喻可以体现出其一贯的写作风格:隐喻性小说,也透露出难得一见的积极正面或是偏中性的人生况味。

Cognitive linguistics holds that metaphor is cognitive in essence, for it involves deep linguistic thinking. Thus it is not only a unique form of language, but also ideal literature analysis materials. The paper tries to analyze metaphor in Eileen Chang＇ s only novel Destiny of Half a Lifetime from the perspective of linguistics. The findings are that the metaphors reveal her persistent writing style： a metaphorical novel, and her unusually positive or neutral attitude towards life.
