Reexamination of Sociology in Big Data Age

大数据对传统社会学研究方法的冲击,迫使社会学必须重新审视自身的研究方向。社会学自诞生以来,在学科研究方向和研究方法上,始终存在着两大问题:一是在社会的整体性把握和精细化认识的关系上一直难以相互融合,二是在质的研究和量的研究的关系上长期处于对垒状态。大数据的出现不仅促进了定性和定量这两种基本研究范式的实质性转化,有助于从根本上超越方法论的相互对立,同时也将形成社会学研究方法和方向的有机结合,充分凸显大数据时代社会学研究的核心价值。

The impact of big data upon the research method of traditional sociology forces sociology workers to reexamine their own research orientation. Since sociology was born, there have existed two major problems：integration hardly reached between the the overall command of society and its refined awareness;confrontation set between qualitative and quantitative research.Big data not merely promotes the substantial transformation in the two basic paradigms of qualitative and quantitative research,which helps fundamentally surmount the inter-confrontation in methodology and form the integration between the research method and orientation of sociology as well as manifest fully big-data society.
