In reviewing the past high-speed development period of higher vocational education in China, this essay makes analysis on the opportunities and challenges that higher vocational colleges are facing at present, and points out the core issues for higher vocational colleges to focus on during the 13th national five-year development period, from the aspects of school- running, education and teaching, talents training, social service, and teaching staff building.
