Character Relation Change in Gone with the Wind Viewed from the Angle of Interpersonal Function

从系统功能语言学的人际功能的角度出发,对小说《飘》第34节中男女主人公的人物关系的变化过程进行剖析,发现人物对话中的称谓变化、情态副词变化以及评价性词汇变化对揭示双方关系的变化有很大作用,从而为读者正确解读该小说选段提供了客观依据,也验证了运用系统功能语言学理论来解读文学作品的可行性和可操作性。

This paper analyses the character relation change in the 34 th chapter of Gone with the Wind from the angle of Interpersonal Function. The changes in address terms,modal adverbs and evaluative words in the dialogues between the characters are very important to revealing the changing process of their relations,and provide an objective basis for the readers to understand the chapter. The paper also proves that it is feasible to interpret literary works from the perspectives of the Systemic Functional Linguistics.
