新硬件时代是指以强大的软件技术、互联网和大数据技术为基础,由极客和创客为主要参与群体,以硬件为表现形式的一种新产业形态。新硬件在美国已有一定的发展规模,在我国也已有多种形式和途径的实践与表现,图书馆也通过创设新硬件服务空间和提供新硬件应用服务来改善用户服务体验,但在新硬件时代还可以通过提供数据分析、知识发现等服务来延伸图书馆的服务。
