How to Evaluate Yinglian's Influence on Chinese New Literature——A Discussion with Professor Xiao Bairong

作为中国传统的文学体裁之一,楹联的确对中国新文学的形成产生了积极的影响,问题在于如何定位这种影响。既不能将"楹联"随意扩大为"楹联文化"或"楹联传统",从而夸大楹联对中国新文学的影响;也不能撇开格律诗、词赋和骈文当中的"楹联"式语句,从而孤立地讨论楹联对新文学的影响。以楹联对五四"小诗"的影响为例可更好地说明楹联对中国新文学的影响程度和方式。

As an important genre in traditional Chinese literature, Yinglian or couplets, has an active influence on Chinese New Literature. My suspicion is how to position it. For one hand, Yinglian can not be expanded to Yinglian Culture or Yinglian Tradition optionally so as to overstate its valuation. On the other hand, the influence can not be discussed isolatedly except Metrical poems, Ci Fu and Pianwen in Old Chinese genre. Taking Yinglian＇s influence on the poemlet after the May 4th Movement as an example could better show how strong it penetrates Chinese New Literature.
