摘要
近年来,高等教育界关于思辨能力不足的批评之声多指向英语专业大学生,并认为导致这种现象的主要原因是英语专业的课程设置和教学方法等方面存在问题。依据思辨能力层级理论模型所进行的思辨认知能力测评、问卷调查和访谈等实证研究结果证明,二语水平的高低才是造成英语专业大学生思辨能力差异的关键因素。因此,旨在促进英语专业大学生思辨能力发展的改革不应以忽视语言输出技能的培养为代价,片面追求教学方法和课程设置等外围方面的改革,而应从问题的根源出发,强化二语意识,加强思维训练,改革考试制度,提高学生的语言输出能力和思辨能力,真正提高我国英语专业的教学质量。
Recent years′criticisms of weak critical thinking skills are mainly pointed to English majors in the higher education circle.Critics argue that the outdated curriculum,teaching methods and testing system are the major reason for the problem.Through an empirical study,this paper testifies that the second language proficiency has a big say in telling the differences of critical thinking skills among English majors.Therefore,efforts aimed at enhancing critical thinkings skills should not be made unilaterally by reforming teaching methods,course curriculum and testing system at the cost of weakening the cultivation of language skills.Instead,more efforts should be made to enhance students′second-language consciousness,strengthen their thinking training and reform language proficiency testing system.
