Objective : To investigate the effects of fear and anger on cognitive control. Method : It is a 3 ( emotion condition : serenity, anger and fear)x 2 (task type:task repeat and task switch)within- subjects design. Participants performed an autobiographical recall to elicit the target emotion immediately prior to completing the switching task. They then rated how much serenity, happiness, sadness, anger, fear and disgust they experienced while recalling. Finally ,they performed a short card pairing memory game. Results:( 1 )During a fear and an anger compared to a serenity state participants were relatively faster responding to task switch trials; (2) For RTs on task repeat trials, there was no significant difference during three emotion conditions ; ( 3 ) The switch costs were significantly higher in the fear and anger conditions compared to the serenity condition.
