Orwell's Potential Consciousness of Colonialism:A Postcolonial Study of Burmese Days

文章基于后殖民主义的角度,分析了奥威尔对缅甸人无意识的他者化,指出其隐藏在文本下的白人优越论和殖民意识,并进一步从对缅甸人的种族歧视性描绘、从属性地位的定位和妇女边缘化的处理三个方面揭示了奥威尔作为白人作家的局限性。

This paper, from the perspective of postcolonialism, studies Orwell＇s unconscious othering of Burmans and points out his white supremacy and colonial consciousness hidden in the text. This paper reveals Orwell limitations as a white writer mainly from the following three aspects：the racially discriminating portrait of Burmans. Burmans＇ subordinate position to the British. The marginalized portrait of Burmese women.
