摘要
文科高等教育对于培养优秀大学生至关重要。通过比较北京大学和美国加利福尼亚大学的本科课程设置、通识教育、研究生培养、教学评估,我们提出一些设想,以提高大学文科的教学质量。大学作为一个创造新知识、新科学、新思想的场所,必然遭遇教育质量上的挑战。然而,尽管为了提高大学高等教育质量已经付出过努力,尽管几十年来的经验有力地证明了它的价值,但是,要把理想付诸实现,仍然是一场艰苦的奋斗。
Higher education in liberal arts is essential to the training of outstanding students. By comparing the undergraduate curricu- lums, general education, graduate education, and teaching evaluation in both Peking University and the University of California, this research proposes some suggestions on improving the relevant teaching in Chinese universities. As a place to provide new knowledge, new science and new ideas, universities face a qualitatively new challenge for the education of liberal arts. Yet, despite all the efforts devoted to the improvement of higher education and decades of eloquent testimony to its value, the ideal still faces an uphill battle.
